UK death metal newcomers Beyond Extinction were our last Band of the Day in 2020! It’s great to hear back from them as they continue their climb with the release of their blistering debut EP, The Fatal Flaws of Humankind, out Friday 29th January. The deathcore crew have given us this exclusive track by track breakdown of record:
God Complex (lyric video on YouTube)
A song dedicated to the type of person who applies a moral com to everyone’s actions bar their own, the person who takes advantage of anyone they can at every opportunity they get and do it without any awareness of just how toxic they are. This song is about hate, energy, and anger.
Bones Like Branches
This track bases many of its lyrics around the middle ages process of killing witches due to fear of the unknown or fear of those who are different. The whole song is a metaphor for freedom of speech and modern societies curbing of rights, which is reminiscent of the persecution of many people through history simply due to their differences in opinions or lifestyles to other people.

Apex Predator (lyric video below)
Apex Predator is probably the most literal of the songs on the EP. It is more or less about all the anger and pain felt by so many people becoming one personified creature and reaping revenge on the world itself, apocalypse style. The chorus is a reference to some of our previous songs we’ve written, so keep your ears at the ready to try catch a few lyrical throwbacks!
A Face Without Features
Do you ever wonder why humans are never content? Always searching through our whole history as a race to find the answers to questions we never had the capacity to understand, to try to fill the details in on things we simply can’t comprehend. This song outlines the fact that in our search for all this knowledge and advancement, we’ve destroyed and ruined the lives and minds of untold amounts of the world around us and we are ultimately destined to continue this cycle, we will one day, as the final line says: “Swallow The Earth.”
