I’ve jumped this Barcelonian band up the list as they messaged me a while ago and I rudely forgot to reply. So to make it up to them… ta-da! They have a new album release scheduled for March this year so it’s a good time to give them a plug anyway.
They were formed in 2006 with the aim of mixing death and hardcore sounds, but allowing a harmonious female voice to flow over the top. Such was the idea put forth by Diego, the founder. Along to the band came Rubén, Alik and Eneko with Carla providing those vocals.
With their first album, Inside the Core released in 2008, they gained quite a following mainly due to the video for “Rivers of Mercy”. This got them through to the finals of the Planet Rox competition in 2011 which included an invitation to play a festival in Canada.
They’ve set themselves the task of making new album We are Fenix of “greater compositional quality”, in other words they want the songs to be even better than what came before. Frankly, this is something that a few of the bigger bands could do with taking on board!
