The somewhat bonkers Mikita are our BotD today. Part of me hopes their answers are the results of their wild imaginations. Part of me hopes they aren’t…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
Dirty Jersey.
We’ve never met before .
How long have you been playing as a band?
Roughly 3 years .
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
Got a pork roll, egg and cheese, lifted up the roll and spelt in ketchup was “Mikita”. Don’t know why to this day.
What are your influences?
Catharticism, pessimism, and old-school punk.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Nothing, we’re just as generic as any other band, maybe a little angrier though.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
Self-loathing, frustration, self-destruction, mental immolation.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
Like two sweaty neanderthals beating the shit out of themselves for validation, it’s kind of erotic though. We’ve played at least 60 which tops our previous record of 1.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Nothing too wild. Our sets are pretty tame, you know, the usual: flattening microphones on heads, breaking snare drums with faces, carving my chest up in a church basement, autoerotic asphyxiation. The usual.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
Strictly Black Sabbath’s original instruments stolen from their personal collections, nothing else.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be ing and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
Our homies in America Part Two, Dumpweed, and Tear because four-band bills are where it’s at. All of us playing at the same time would be preferred.
