As facebook, if not the rest of the world, was very much aware yesterday would have been Freddie Mercury’s 70th birthday. 2016 also marks 30 years since that incredible Wembley concert which you can (and should) dig out on YouTube.
To mark the former, Aaron Buchanan & The Cult Classics have recorded this version of one of Queen’s many classics. Not a song often re-recorded, they’ve certainly done it justice, especially in of the vocals. One singer, one acoustic guitar, brilliant song.
Aaron has this to say about the recording:
Today marks 70 years of the late, great Freddie Mercury. To celebrate his life we set time aside to deliver a live rendition of possibly one of Freddie’s most beautiful composures, “Love Of My Life”. This year is also the 30th anniversary of the Queen Live At Wembley gig in 1986 (of which this song is featured) and will be ed as one of the greatest, if not, the greatest Wembley show of all time. I’m a huge Freddie fan, Queen’s music was the key thing that made me want to be a part of a band and having never had a chance to pay homage to the man that inspired not only my self, but generations, now felt like the right time. I hope this lives up to expectation. Here’s to Freddie Mercury, long live his legend.
You can see the band on tour with InMe in October.
