Here we go again… Last year we covered every band on the Hobgoblin New Blood and Jagermeister stages in the run-up to Bloodstock 2015. This year, we’re going one better and aim to have interviews from all the bands on those two stages as well as all of those on the SOPHIE stage prior to the event kicking off on August 11th. That’s almost 100 interviews to get online for you lucky people over the course of the next couple of weeks. I bloody love this job, but you lot owe me a beer at Catton Hall, right?
Thanks to all the bands who’ve taken the time to respond!
After The Abduction – Hobgoblin New Blood Stage, Saturday
Where are you guys from?
We’re based in Manchester in whole, however individually we hail from a number of places; Manchester, Oldham, and Scotland.
How did you meet?
Friendship is rare and we were blessed. We have all known each other since our early teens and have had a number of projects between us. However after said projects turned to dust, two became one, forged ATA and turned dust to stone.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
We have been playing as a complete line up under the name of After the Abduction since early 2015. First gig: June 19th 2015.
Where does the name of the band come from?
The band name was decided before the band was a full line up, however the title is more suited now to our lyrical themes and concepts.
What are your influences – individually or as a band?
Dying Fetus, Necrophagist, Nile, Decapitated, Ingested, Behemoth, Cerebral Bore, Cattle Decapitation.
When/how did you find out you’d been selected to play at Bloodstock?
We won the Manchester metal to the masses competition and earned ourselves a slot at Bloodstock 2016!
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
The scent is unique. We are a mix of different genres including Death, Black and Tam.
What’s your live show like – why should the baying hordes troop over to the stage you’re playing on to watch you?
Our live show has an intense atmosphere! With many blast beats, fast riffing and guttural vocals! If you like heaviness and lots of death metal, our live show is the one for you! You can also take with you a FREE copy of our live demo EP at our Bloodstock show!
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Heavy riffs! Blast beats! Lots of bree! Expect a set list packed full of tempo changes and pure brutality!
Which main stage band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
We’re playing on Saturday 13th August so it would have to be AKERCOCKE!
What are you working on at the moment?
At the moment we are working on a live demo EP for our performance at BOA 2016. We will be giving these out for FREE so get one! We are also putting a lot of time in at the practice room to make sure our set is bitchin’ tight for Bloodstock!
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done on tour?
Travelling on our way to a gig when all of a sudden, we noticed a large pyramid of dead rotting cow carcasses in a field on the side of the road. Wild.
What advice would you give to a young band just starting out today?
Focus and spend a lot of your time as a FULL band in the practice room. When gig ready play as many gigs as possible, make friends with other bands, promoters, sound guys etc. the underground scene!
If you could be part of any 3-band line-up who else would you have on the bill? One band above you and one below – a chance to plug a smaller, unsigned act!
KISS – AFTER THE ABDUCTION – GOREHEAD
What stage / time are you playing at Bloodstock (if you have your slot yet!)
Saturday 13th August 2016, New Blood Stage – TBC.
