Always aiming to put the smaller / less well known bands front and centre, welcome to our series featuring acts on the New Forces stage at this year’s Metal Days festival in Slovenia, as well as a couple of bands who are being featured for a second time having trodden the boards of that stage in earlier years. We’ll be there with them and hopefully will catch as many of them live as possible so we can tell you how good they are! Tickets for the five-day (plus warmup!) event are still available for around £135. It takes place in Tolmin, Slovenia, from July 21st to 28th.
What is your band’s name and where are you from?
Our band is called Crown The Fallen and we are from Graz, Austria.
When did you first find out about Metal Days?
Some of us already played at Metalcamp / Metal Days with various bands (Ars Moriendi, Everlasting Dawn, …). Most of us were there as visitors as well.
How did you end up on the bill for this year’s festival?
Last year we released our debut album The ing of Greed and on our vacation in Tolmin we took the opportunity to present this album to the Metal Days crew and make an application for this year’s New Forces stage. We are really happy to play there and having a good time with all the fans and friends we will meet there. Also, we are really happy to present our new song “Speaker of All Tongues” to the crowd at Metal Days. You can listen to it on YouTube if you like. It’s at the end of this interview.
Is this the furthest you’ll ever have played from home and/or the biggest gig you’ve ever played? If so, what was the furthest/biggest before now?
It is the biggest and farthest festival away from home we have ever played with Crown The Fallen, yes. Before that, we played some shows in Graz (AUT) and Gleisdorf (AUT) where we ed bands like Deadlock (GER), Harakiri for the Sky (AUT) and SoundWitch (JAP).
Which bands on the bill are you most looking forward to seeing?
I can’t answer this question for all of us, but the bands I am most looking forward to are Judas Priest, Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth, Leprous, Tesseract, Harakiri For The Sky and Shining.
Other than bands, what are you most looking forward to about Metal Days?
Meeting a lot of great metalheads, drinking some beer with them on the beach, listen to great music, enjoy the epic freshness of the river nearby, and the nature of the surrounding area and of course, having a lot of fun on stage! \m/
Before you hit the stage: Monster energy drink or Laško beer?
Of course Laško! Which metalhead would dare to exchange his lovely adorable beer with anything else?
