It’s that time of year again, when in the run-up to Bloodstock we endeavour to interview every band gracing the Sophie Lancaster, New Blood and Jägermeister stages from 8th – 11th August 2019. This means you’ve got a chance to read up on all your favourite bands set to play over the weekend and decide which new ones you’ll want to check out.
As ever, we’re predicting some horrible clashes because, true to form, there are some great bands across all three stages so you should start planning who you want to see.
Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!
Scars Of Remembrance – New Blood Stage, Saturday
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
Sunny Wrexham in North Wales!
How long have you been playing together as a band?
Since late 2011 / early 2012 with a few new faces being added down the line.
Where does the name of the band come from?
Mark (guitars) put it forward. I googled it to check it wasn’t being used and a Star Wars reference came back. Being the geek that I (Dan) am, that was enough to get my vote! Everyone else liked it so we went with it!
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We play whatever comes out. We like bands like Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Lamb of God and Parkway Drive as they can play anything and it fits within their style. We try to do the same, but we’re just not as talented!
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
We don’t stay still. I like to keep moving as I don’t like watching bands who look bored. If they look bored why should anyone else be interested? Karl (Bass) likes to bounce around the stage like an animal and Mike’s always in and amongst the people. We give 100% and end up a sweaty mess.
Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
Mike’s been before, but this is all new for the rest of us and we’re excited for it as a band and as spectators!
Which M2tM region did you win, or did you come through other channels?
We got through as part of the M2TM North Wales shows.
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Bloodstock?
We couldn’t quite believe it, so shock, panic and disbelief!
What sort of setlist can we expect?
As many songs as we can cram into 30 minutes. We’ve got melodic songs, the odd slow number and some outright beastly tunes!
Which other bands do you most hope you’re not squished up next to so you can see them play?
Parkway Drive! Thy Art Is Murder, Cancer Bats, Anthrax… So many great bands playing!
What are you working on at the moment?
Just working on improving our set as much as we can for the big day!
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Seen… Probably a guy dressed as Tarzan stagediving and crowdsurfing with an inflatable crocodile at a Municipal Waste show!
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
If we throw back anything before hand we’ll be all over the place come showtime! I’d take a cheeky pint but I’m sure Karl will be on hand with the Jagers!
