Road To Bloodstock 2022 – Tumanduumband

It’s that time of year where we set out to interview as many of the Sophie, New Blood, and Jager bands as we can in the lead-up to one of the most anticipated festivals of the year, Bloodstock. Answering our questions here is Luke from Tumanduumband who play the New Blood stage on the Friday.

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We are from the darkest depths of the Black Country, West Midlands.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

4 years now.

Where does the name of the band come from?

We convened with the evil spirits to conjure up our name of power (also it’s a two man doom band).

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Ultra heavy instrumental doom, peppered with occult samples. We are more often than not the loudest band on a bill despite us only having two . Scott (bass) creates a multitude of ethereal noises with his effects and the crushing drums batter anyone in their way.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?

Our live “Rifftual” will haunt you. Beating you into submission and an unearthly trance. It consists of skulls, corpses and blood rites.

Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?

I (Luke, drums) have not attended Bloodstock before but have always wanted to. Scott has and he has performed there with his old band Burden of The Noose.

Which M2tM region did you win, or did you come through other channels?

We won the Birmingham regional M2TM.

Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Bloodstock?

A great sense of accomplishment and elation.

What sort of setlist can we expect?

Really fucking heavy.

Which other bands do you most hope you’re not squished up next to so you can see them play?

Eyehategod and Gwar are both playing on the Friday so hopefully we don’t clash with them!

What are you working on at the moment?

For 2022 so far we have really concentrated on performing our “Rifftual” to as many people as we could, all over England. We have also been writing new material and hope to enter the studio this Autumn.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

Our crowds are usually too entranced by our Satanic majesty to do anything particularly “wild”.

What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?

The blood of our enemies.
