Our regular run-down of as many of the Bloodstock bands as we can get to talk to us! Lost to Light play the New Blood stage on the Saturday…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We hail from Derby, so only a stones throw from the hallowed grounds of BOA.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
We first started writing and jamming for this band around November 2021 if memory serves correctly, however all of us have been in various bands with each other over the years, dating right back to the early 2000s for some of us!
Where does the name of the band come from?
It’s actually the name of a mission from Destiny: The Taken King. We’re all big gamers and some of us have spent some serious hours on that game *cough-Daryl-cough*. The mission in question has an alternate route to take when played on heroic difficulty which rewards you with one of the best weapons in the game. I guess the idea of being rewarded for overcoming a struggle and taking an alternate path is something we felt resonates with our band.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
It’s heavy, but catchy. Vocally driven but full of riffs. We aren’t afraid to let the music guide us in order to produce something that truly represents us so you’ll find our songs make full use of dynamics to portray our vision. Expect riffs to snap your neck to and disgusting screams, but also huge uplifting moments laced with dual vocal harmonies.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
When it comes to shows, we’re all there for a good time right? Whether on stage performing, or in the crowd watching, we’re all there with the same agenda, so that’s what we try to encapsulate. It’s important for us that everyone feels like part of something bigger than themselves, as we’re all connected through music and shared experiences.
Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
We have indeed, and we love it! It’s just such a feel-good festival, everyone’s there with the same vibe of just having a sick weekend listening to metal and partying. I mean, what’s not to love?!
Which M2tM region did you win, or did you come through other channels?
We were fortunate enough to have been selected by Simon when he opened artist submissions!
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Bloodstock?
Minds. Blown.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
It’s pretty relentless, we’ve smashed a load of really heavy hitters together to show the Bloodstock crowd what we’re all about. It eases up a little for one track which has a chorus you won’t forget, then absolutely punches you in the face with one of our heaviest tracks. We really can’t wait to see the response!
Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
Architects, Malevolence, Whitechapel, and Sylosis are the big four for us that day, but we’ll be happy with whatever slot we get!
What are you working on at the moment?
We’ve just dropped the single and video for “Redeemer”. It’s the first single off our EP Conceal which drops on 2nd August along with another video, so people have a chance to check us out before Bloodstock. Following that we’re playing Hometown Festival at The Hairy Dog, Derby on 29th September and will be working on putting out our follow up EP which is already in the pipeline, and continuing to write for a full length record.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Wildest thing we’ve seen would be at Bloodstock 2010. A wasted 6’4” hench guy in a luminous green mankini decided to take a piss right in the middle of the Meshuggah mosh pit, only for him to then fall in it less than 5 mins later. Talk about instant karma!

What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
Jager or Fireball always go down a treat!
