We’re closing in on Call of the Wild and we’re going to be back for a second year! So we’re getting to know as many of the bands set to play the Trailblazer Stage in 2025 that we can pin down. Heartbreak Remedy play the Friday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are based in Cumbria with singer/bassist Matty now in Teeside.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
Twelve years. Matty and Steve had played music together for eleven years together, too, before that.
Where does the name of the band come from?
Matty was in a relationship that ended and so he used songwriting and the power of music to get over the break up, which then lead to the formation of Heartbreak Remed.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We play foot-tapping, hip-shaking, headbanging rock and roll. We mix the soul of the blues with the groove of rock and roll and the rawness of punk and then mix that all together with honest lyrics that we can all associate with.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Our live shows are full on rock and roll energy that make you wanna drink, dance and sing the time away (we love to see people singing along and encourage people to in) and then before you know it – the set is over.
Have you been to Call of the Wild before? What did you think?
Not to play. Steve attended for the day a few years back travelling with The Mercury Riots. And he reported back great things but this is the first time playing it!
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Call of the Wild?
Super excited to be a part of this incredible lineup!
What sort of setlist can we expect?
A mix of tracks from our back catalogue with singalong choruses, blistering solos and grooves to swing your hips to. It was a difficult choice but we managed to settle on a set we are all happy with… so hopefully it’ll go down well.
Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
Matty: Jayler, The Commoners, and Tom Kilner
Steve: I’m looking forward to a weekend of great music… it’ll be great to catch Sisters Doll, Harsh, Falling Red, Oli Brown and, of course, Mike Monroe.
What are you working on at the moment?
Currently we are working on booking shows to our latest album, Let The Good Times Roll, which is available on red vinyl for any vinyl fans out there, while also writing new material for the next album.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Matty:I once fell through a stage.
Steve: I once had a girl come and sit on my knee for a song in the middle of a gig… still no clue who she was but I don’t think I missed a beat!
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
Matty: Maybe a beer or two, or a whisky or a tequila.
Steve: I’ll just stick to a good old beer, a Road Crew will probably be my number one choice!
