Road to Call of the Wild 2025: Jehenna

We’re closing in on Call of the Wild and we’re going to be back for a second year! So we’re getting to know as many of the bands set to play the Trailblazer Stage in 2025 that we can pin down. Jehenna play the Friday.

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We are from Great Yarmouth in East Anglia.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

We started out as a folk duo back in 2018, which led us into our first lineup of a band, Scarlet. We changed our branding, sound and name in 2022 – it’s been Jehenna ever since!

Where does the name of the band come from?

The band name was suggested by my (Emily’s) dad, Matthew. We are all very fond of the Elder Scrolls games series and we were looking for a unique sounding name. There is a kingdom named Jehanna (or Jehenna) within the series, and we really liked the name!

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

We are a heavy sounding band, but the thing that really sets us apart is that the vocals aren’t as heavy as the music. We have a hard hitting, punchy backline, shredding lead and slap bass – fronted by haunting lead vocals and beautiful live harmonies. You don’t see many female fronted bands in the heavy scene, and the addition of live harmonies adds to the eccentric sound.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?

Our live show is energetic, powerful and our live sound is very much similar to our recorded music. All backing tracks are 100% original and performed live – all instruments are still being played at an extremely professional standard and it stops people in their tracks!

Have you been to Call of the Wild before? What did you think?

We have never been but been following the online community for some time – we cannot wait!

Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Call of the Wild?

Buzzed! So grateful we can contribute to an amazing event!

What sort of setlist can we expect?

The set list will be all original (maybe bar a singular cover for the crowd), which will be heavy, energetic and will kick the weekend off with great vibes. Get ready for a mosh!

Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?

We would love to see Jayler! I have been following them for a while online and their vibe is just so cool!

What are you working on at the moment?

Recording is our priority at the moment! We have a few new tracks underway.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

Our bassist, Joe, when he’s having a good time performing will get wild! One gig we did, he was having an amazing time, and so were the audience. Joe got off the stage (while still playing bass), and ran around the audience, taking and drinking their beer! The audience loved it and it definitely left people buzzed after our set!

What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?

We are all different. However I (Emily), always go for a spiced rum to help the throat before a set! But the other guys always go for a good beer (I believe their drink of choice is Ruddles).
