We’re closing in on Call of the Wild and we’re going to be back for a second year! So we’re getting to know as many of the bands set to play the Trailblazer Stage in 2025 that we can pin down. Silveroller play the Sunday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We’re from all over the place, Liverpool, Stockton on Tees, Boston, Massachusetts and Sao Palo Brazil. A good mix of people makes for a good band I think!
How long have you been playing together as a band?
Me and Joe have been playing together for a while, Dylan and Tadini came in last year and Kenny played his first Silveroller show on 2nd April.
Where does the name of the band come from?
We wanted something totally unique, like an “Aerosmith” or “Supertramp”, Paul Rodgers had said that he’d named Bad Company after a western movie, which is where the “Silver” part of the name came from. So many of those old western films had Silver in the title. Joe had mentioned the idea of a motion word and Silveroller fell into our lap.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?
I’d say we’re drawing from a well that has been forgotten by some people. We listen to a lot of Stax Records, soul, blues, country, folk etc. A lot of roots music. Of course we listen to the greats: Zeppelin, Free, The Faces, The Stones, The Who and The contemporary groups like Rival Sons, The Temperance Movement, Blackberry Smoke etc. I think us all being from all over the world helps, too. It’s different cultures in the room and a lot of influences musically.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
I’d say it’s a very honest live show, it’s just us, just us playing the songs how we’re feeling. Sometimes songs are a little heavier than the night before because of how the day has been, or the solos will take a slight dynamic turn etc. Also, bell bottoms. You don’t see that very often.
Have you been to Call of the Wild before? What did you think?
This is our first time!
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Call of the Wild?
Excited! It’s our first time!
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Dynamic. We don’t wanna blow people’s heads off the entire time. It’s good to come up for air and let the thing breathe; we like light and shade.
Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
A couple! Bobby Dazzle are fantastic, we’d love to catch them, and The Commoners, but we’re playing a fair few festivals with them, so if we do miss them, we’ll catch them again!
What are you working on at the moment?
New music! Always!
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Watching our bass player, who’s all of eight stone wet through, front some fella twice his size who was giving us lip at a show we were on the guest list for was pretty wild!
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
A ginger shot!
