Despite being on album number… eight? Depends how you keep count I guess, and despite being huge mega-stars selling out decent sized venues on 30+ date tours, they still treat the fans the same way they did back then. To whit… Lead singer John posted a photo on facebook the other day. One fan – a friend of mine – pointed out that it was just round the corner from the school where she works as a Geography teacher.
“When you’re at Stockton you’re so close to my school (I teach!) the kids would love it lol”
Next thing you know, the band have arranged to stop in and gave a presentation to a music class about playing live, life on the road, and other aspects of music life!
There are a couple of photos below, kindly taken by the lady who arranged everything – Sharon (“Miss”) King. She had this to say afterwards:
“The school is Egglescliffe, and they visited the music department for about an hour and a half. You can see the pupils are focused and listening to the band and they discussed a lot of techniques for each instrument and playing solo and as a band and how that varies. Despite never doing it before they were naturals, and the kids really enjoyed it. Some are going to go to the gig tonight even! Rockgrass lives on.”
Guys, I salute you – and I look forward to seeing you for the umpteenth time at the ABC in Glasgow tonight! Now, I just need to to call John about sorting a time for that interview…

Spoke to the guys last night and they’d not say no to doing it again the next time they tour… I can see some kind of lottery happening as to which schools get them in!
Without a doubt ! That was such a great thing to do , what a music lesson for the kids. I suppose they would have to keep it a bit quiet or fans would be turning up to the lesson.
