Stepford Wives, 5-piece alt/post-punk outfit, release new single “Carousel” on Nov 10

“Carousel” is about embracing your true self, without any pretence or façade. It conveys a message of being open and authentic, allowing others to see who you truly are. “Carousel” might be interpreted as a song about the journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance – finding your true identity in the physical and emotional aspects of yourself. The words ‘skin and bone’ could be a metaphor for the physical body, while ‘I swear you will find me’ is the essence of the person. Skin and bone is symbolic of enduring hardship and challenge, inner strength and resilience, suggesting even through bad times, the essence remains intact. The idea that you find someone within skin and bone could also imply a deep level of connection and understanding. Raw and intense connections and meaningful relationships suggest a high level of emotional transparency.

Spanning Generations X to Z, Stepford Wives are:

  • Brad (guitar, vocals)
  • Maisie (vocals, percussion)
  • Nathan (drums)
  • Niklos (guitar, vocals)
  • Rowan (bass, vocals)

Stepford Wives critical wit, intense stage presence and compelling blend of post-punk, psychedelia and art-rock sounds like nothing else around -and led to their debut EP All On Me being championed by BBC Introducing Manchester, Janice Long on her BBC Wales National show and a full appearance on Sky Sports Soccer AM. If All on Me introduced their soul-searching honesty, the new material takes that to anthemic new ground. Stepford Wives are the sound of joy/pain and discovery within the fragility of life, love and the eternal search for meaning in the world.

Their recent headline gig at the Castle in Manchester, was described by influential alternative magazine Louder Than War as an “amazing post punk assault of brilliant songs that punch you in the gut”.

Following a main slot to Half Man Half Biscuit, Stepford Wives have already played this year to Buzzcocks and the Undertones (June and Oct).
