This is something special. Following the release of their latest album distant satellites, a performance at this year’s Festival and a mainly sold-out UK tour, Anathema will return in March 2015 for a very special run of acoustic cathedral shows in the UK.
Lead guitarist Danny Cavanagh comments:
Anathema is blessed to have such a fantastic audience in the UK. If anything in our recent history might stir a sense of pride and gratitude, it would be how brilliantly the UK fans have taken the music to their hearts.
The recent UK tour, including several sold out shows, has been the most fulfilling experience. It was great to meet people personally, to share some of the good feeling that is behind what we do as a band, and what fans give through their hearts.
The recent show at Gloucester Cathedral opened up a new chapter for us. It gave us the opportunity to set the music in an ornate, beautiful environment – and it has been an unforgettable experience for us.
With this in mind, Anathema is proud to announce a series of cathedral concerts that will shed a whole new light on the music and live experience of the band. ‘The experience of Gloucester’ shall be enhanced – culminating in a very special finale in our home town – The Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.
These shows promise to expand the acoustic side of Anathema outside the boundaries ever set before. In new light.
Expect the unexpected.
To date distant satellites is Anathema’s most widely acclaimed record reaching number 32 in the UK album charts with the likes of The Guardian, The Independent, Total Guitar, Metal Hammer, The Quietus, Kerrang, Drowned in Sound, Classic Rock and Prog Magazine heaping praise on the record.
