The Beat / Fat Figgy / D.I.L.E. / Wobbly Bob (Holmfirth Summer Ska Splash)
You can’t beat a bit of ska (see what I did there?) and to prove it, the genre will be taking Holmfirth by the throat and making it dance on Saturday 30th July at the Picturedrome.
One of the biggest bands of the 2-Tone movement, The Beat present a wall of sound that transcends time and ska fusion rhythms to ignite a crowd. The 2016 line-up features Ranking Roger and Ranking Junior on vocals with Oscar Harrison on drums, Andy Pearson and Steve Harper on guitars.
The Beat are known the world over for a string of hit singles, including “Mirror in the Bathroom”, “Too Nice To Talk To”, “Can’t Get Used To Losing You”, “Hands off She’s Mine” and “All Out To Get You”. Their songs of peace, love and unity fuse ska, pop, reggae and punk rock and their dynamic live show.
Doors are at 4:30 and you can get tickets from the box office (08444 780898) or via Eventim for a bargain £20.
Nashville natives, so therefore legally bound to be country-influenced, The Cadillac Three have announced a new album due out on August 5th. Not hanging around, they’re celebrating the release of Bury Me In My Boots with a swathe of UK dates in November (as well as playing Ramblin’ Man Festival on July 24th).
