EP Review: Vader – Humanihility

Death metal titans Vader resurface with three-track EP – Humanihility.

It’s been about five years since Vader last unleashed new music, but 2025 looks set to mark a ferocious return for the legendary death metal band. With their heels firmly dug in, they’ve been chosen to perform this year’s Mystic Festival anthem—proof that they’re not going quietly.

Each of the EP’s three tracks was composed by a different band member, including returning guitarist Ma Stefanowicz.

First up is the blistering and quintessentially Vader “Genocide Designed” —ferocious and unrelenting as they’ve ever been over their 40-year reign. The production is tight, the performance flawless, and this is undoubtedly one of those tracks that blasts the cobwebs into another galaxy. It’s followed by the circle pit-inducing “Rampage” —a surefire summer festival favourite, overflowing with speed, solos, and an unwavering drive.

Closing this brief yet brutal collection is the Mystic Festival anthem “Unbending”, which features some truly tasteful guitar tones and a slower, more ominous aesthetic. It hints at soundscapes and riff styles that may resurface in future releases. While it’s only three tracks long, I for one am thrilled to see Vader back on the circuit, unapologetically assaulting eardrums once again.

Executed with precision and intensity.
